In September 2022, Vinh Hoa hatchery, a project of Vinh Hoan Corporation, earned BAP and GlobalGAP certifications. Vinh Hoa hatchery has an area of 476430 m2, with 114 nursery ponds, providing about 1.6 billion fries and 30 million seeds annually.

Until now, the total hatcheries of Vinh Hoan are GlobalGAP, or BAP certified, which plays a vital role in improving the quality of pangasius fingerlings, creating a supply of high-quality fingerlings for Vinh Hoan’s farming areas and external farming households.

About BAP certifications

Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) is a third-party certification program developed by the Global Seafood Alliance, an international, nonprofit trade association headquartered in Portsmouth, N.H., USA, dedicated to advancing environmentally and socially responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy and third-party assurances. Through the development of its Best Aquaculture Practices and Best Seafood Practices certification standards, GSA has become the leading standards-setting organization for seafood.

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program has expanded its coverage with the completion of new BAP hatchery and nursery standards for finfish, crustaceans and mollusks. The addition of the BAP hatchery standards represents a key advancement for the BAP program, as they allow companies to pursue four-star designation for all species covered by the BAP program.

About GlobalGAP certifications

GLOBALG.A.P. standards for aquaculture have been operational for almost 20 years and are developed through extensive collaboration with stakeholders throughout the sector. IFA for aquaculture is the only aquaculture certification standard at farm level recognized by GFSI and the only aquaculture certification standard recognized by GSSI for all species of finfish, crustaceans, molluscs, and seaweed.
